Explanation of Terms and detailed Material Information:
LiteScout®
The light-up magnetic board that provides a sturdy and portable alternative to the light box.
Converter Module CM-PL 025E
TÜV/GS certified power supply for operating the LiteScout®.
Bluish-white light emission
The PLASTOLIGHT® light source used in the LiteScout® is a new design that has been proven to have double the luminance of white PLASTOLIGHT® light source. This makes it possible to use the unit with people who have greater visual impairment. Furthermore, bluish light looks brighter in the dark because:
the eyes receptors for blue are the most sensitive (cf. human sensitivity to light: color vision provided by cones)
Rhodopsin, the pigment that is responsible for human photosensitivity, reaches its maximum absorption in the green-blue range of the visible spectrum (cf. human sensitivity to light: light sensitivity much higher in rods)
This is why lights that are used primarily at night are often blue.
Other reasons for using a bluish-white light are:
the soothing hue allows children to work and play with the LiteScout® for a longer period of time
it has a better effect on fluorescent color pigments (see fluorescent plastics)
The color can be corrected to white using the white filter supplied with the unit.
White Filter
The bluish-white light emitted by the LiteScout® also contains some green; thus, when you insert the slightly red-tinted white filter, white light emission results (color addition). Experience has shown that it is beneficial to use the newly developed white filter if you wish to work with conventional color items rather than fluorescent plastics, films, etc. The white filter comes standard with every LiteScout® unit.
Transparent plastic overlay
Thin but very hard, robust, scratch-resistant polycarbonate (0.3 mm) overlay that is placed on the LiteScout® light area. It is a nearly unbreakable, extremely sturdy working surface.
Fluorescent plastics
High-quality plastics that many are familiar with in connection with black light. The colorful translucent plastics shine very brightly and in very pure and intense colors. Fluorescent plastics reflect three times as much color as conventional colored plastics. This effect results from fluorescent pigments worked into the plastic that convert shorter-wavelength light into visible light. According to the definition, fluorescence is an emitting of colorful light during exposure to radiation of a different color. In the case of the LiteScout®, excitation of the fluorescent-imbued plastic with bluish-white light heightens the fluorescent effect well beyond what the user would see with white light. This makes the user much more likely to see, pay attention to, and concentrate on the object(s).
We offer two kinds of fluorescent plastics:
compact transparent rods in various lengths and shapes (cylinders, triangular and rectangular rods)
flat sheet material (3 mm) in a matte finish for tokens and screens
Fluorescent color filters
Custom-produced thin color filters to be placed over the light area. Luminosity and color rendering are excellent, thanks to the use of top-quality fluorescent pigments (cf. fluorescent plastics).
We offer two kinds of fluorescent color filters:
single-color to change the color of the work area
multi-color to use in color-matching games
Black plastic
Opaque ABS plastic that creates strong contrast, sharp contours, and clear delineations when placed on the light area.
We offer two kinds of black plastics:
